The Goodwood Group is racing toward the future of content management and distribution with the help of Backlight technology. Discover how the Goodwood production team has turbocharged its media workflows with Wildmoka Clip Studio and Iconik, boosting engagement for its Festival of Speed and Revival events – and beyond.

Nestled in Sussex's countryside, Goodwood stands as a beacon of English culture and motorsport heritage. The estate hosts numerous events, but is most renowned for its motorsports spectacles: the Goodwood Festival of Speed (since 1993) and the nostalgic Goodwood Revival, celebrating the circuit's golden era from the 1940s–60s.

Elliott Woodcock, Lead Video Editor at Goodwood Productions, leads a small but ambitious team capturing and sharing these experiences worldwide. "Our team may be small, but our ambition is vast," says Elliott. "We're covering all these events, capturing content, creating trailers – and it's an ever-growing beast. Our content output is increasing exponentially. Software like Wildmoka Clip Studio and Iconik is helping Goodwood Productions do more with all the content we have at our fingertips."

Read on to discover how Goodwood leverages the synergy of iconik's media management and Clip Studio's production tools to enhance productivity, accelerate content delivery, and engage their audience like never before.

High-speed production with Wildmoka Clip Studio

Goodwood embraced Wildmoka Clip Studio two years ago, revolutionizing how it captures and shares motorsport content in real-time. The platform has become integral to broadcasting the Festival of Speed, Revival events, and the exclusive Members' Meeting.

"Wildmoka Clip Studio is a dynamic tool for us," says Elliott. "We feed live event footage directly into Clip Studio. The real magic happens when we clip these live feeds. Instantly, we can format clips into varying ratios for social media, infuse them with Goodwood's unique branding tailored for each event, and distribute them across multiple platforms.

"Let's say there's a dramatic moment featuring two classic cars in a close race," he continues. "With Clip Studio, we can make editorial choices in the moment. We select the extract, apply the desired image ratio, choose where to focus for each format, and decide where this content goes on the fly – social media, YouTube, or directly into our media management solution."

The integration between Wildmoka Clip Studio and Backlight's media management platform, Iconik, has proven pivotal for Goodwood, enabling rapid, cloud-native media handling and distribution. This integration has been nothing less than a "game-changer" for Elliott.

Seamless archive integration

Faced with three decades of content and inefficient legacy systems, Goodwood adopted Iconik to manage their extensive media library efficiently. After digitizing their 30-year collection onto Amazon S3, Iconik now indexes this storage, making the comprehensive archive supremely accessible.

"Iconik revolutionized how we interact with our content," says Elliott. "Unlike previous asset management solutions that felt cumbersome, Iconik is refreshingly uncomplicated – much like how Wildmoka Clip Studio makes digital production simpler."

Key advantages include proxy workflows that allow viewing and scrubbing through thumbnails without downloading files, single-instance storage that eliminates duplicates, and powerful search capabilities with metadata filtering.

Wildmoka x Iconik: The game-changing integration

The true power emerges from the Wildmoka Clip Studio and Iconik integration – bridging live and archived content seamlessly. Whether saving the best Revival moments from Clip Studio directly into Iconik or pulling archived content from Iconik for social media remixing in Clip Studio, this unified workflow has transformed Goodwood's content operations.

"The Iconik x Wildmoka Clip Studio integration has undeniably supercharged our workflow," says Elliott. "We now have this powerful 'live-to-archive' workflow where we create coverage clips and easily publish them to Iconik for archival and future use."

This efficiency was demonstrated at Goodwood Revival 2023. Nathan Morgan, Group Head of IT, reflects: "The Iconik x Clip Studio integration was huge for us during Revival 2023. We published almost 5,000 videos and 100 hours of branded content over just 36 hours, with 99% archived directly to Iconik."

"The integration boosted our content production efficiency significantly," adds Elliott. "The days of sifting through hours of footage post-event are over. With Wildmoka Clip Studio, our team clips key events in the moment and transfers them to Iconik collections. Marketing teams can access content immediately – we had around 3,000 clips ready for distribution following Revival 2023."

Unlocking archive potential

The integration enables creative reuse of Goodwood's vast archive. "With our archive, we've got enough content for the next 20 years," says Elliott. "With Wildmoka and Iconik working together, we can do more interesting things. Once we set up metadata properly, we can search for every car unveiling or every Porsche that's competed, bring that into Clip Studio for editing and publishing, generating new content that may never have seen the light of day."

The financial impact is equally significant. "In terms of revenue, the Iconik x Wildmoka Clip Studio integration is priceless," notes Elliott. "If this integration didn't exist, we'd need more staff to get content to our social teams. With Wildmoka Clip Studio and Iconik in our toolkit, we're streamlining production and enabling rapid distribution."

Racing toward the future

Goodwood's roadmap includes developing comprehensive metadata structures, exploring AI solutions for automotive content tagging, integrating with project management systems via APIs, and implementing live-streaming capabilities from Wildmoka Clip Studio for semi-automated social media distribution.

"We have ambitious goals, and we're confident that with Backlight's support, we'll achieve them," says Elliott. "Backlight is exactly the partner we need, expertly tuning our content engine for peak performance and efficiency."
